Frequently Ask Questions (FAQ's)

Q1. We understand that you offer a trial period for a regular cleaner/housekeeper to make sure that the degree of domestic support and candidate selected are the perfect fit for our family. How does this work?

A1. The trial is for the week’s work so the Client can see how the working relationship would work out in practice within the home. Client is required to pay Agency the amount for every full hour or part thereof worked by the Applicant due until after the trial week.  Following a successful appointment, on receipt of Agency fee, we offer a 3 months’ guarantee, during which time we will replace the employee if you are not satisfied with them.

Q2.I’d wanted to employ a housekeeper/cleaner.  However, I was a bit daunted by the prospect of sorting out National Insurance, tax coding issues.  What sort of steps should I do?

A2.Quite straightforward really, call the National Insurance helpline to arrange appointment for your housekeeper to go to your local Job Centre.  Your housekeeper will need to take with a letter from you confirming her employment and a copy of your Contract of Employment.  After the appointment at the local Job Centre, a National Insurance number follows for your housekeeper about two/three weeks later.

Applicant and the Client need to ensure that appropriate tax coding is in placed. On receipt of NI details, Client then fill in an easy – to – follow forms about tax coding which will be sent by the tax office to the Client in the post.  On receipt of the completed form, the tax office sends you a tax code.  If you wish to put your housekeeper on a PAYE system, before they receive their NI number you can get them to complete a P60.
